I'm really loving this piece. The blend of raw edge broidery perse and silk ribbon embroidery has worked very well, though pulling the needle through the extra fabric and the heat and bond isn't for the weak-fingered. The sunflower swag mimics the moon the Virgin of Guadalupe stands on in the traditional image. I've filled in some the empty spots with spider web roses and beads.
Another close up.
Here's where I've been working. Both Bunny the cat and I like the light by the window.

I like this more and more every time I see it. I'm not Catholic, nor do I have a thing for the madonna in general, but I can easily picture myself living happily with this piece :- )
I'm not catholic either and I definitely have a thing for the Madonna. So cool!
Exceptionally lovely, Barbara.
Your Madonna is stunning, Barbara! I see you have two furry helpers.....didn't know you like cats. Me, too.
I'm not Catholic but I've always been intrigued by Madonnas. This one is beaut.i.ful! The details are fantastic.
Love Our Lady and the light and the kitties and the glass leaves as her halo is splendid!@!
Barbara, the combination of elements here is just transcendent.
I love seeing the piece on your worktable (with the cat)...it's bigger than I thought.
Very, very inspiring.
Lovely Madonna! I like it! And I envy you your bright sunshine.
Everything about this Madonna is beautiful. Thanks for letting us get another glimpse. Love those leaf beads around her head.
