Pillowcase Quilt

Debra was very kind and quilted my pillowcase quilt for me. This was the quilt I made in part with fabric harvested from thrift store pillowcases. I posted about the construction of this project here, here, and here. Of course no sooner did I get this quilt out of the box, that my cats had to take turns sitting on it to make sure meets their high standards.

Debra did a lovely job quilting this utility quilt. I bound it with my favorite neutral: red, and Debra gave me this pretty blue backing fabric. She was very clever about recycling a thermal blanket for the batting. It's wonderfully drapey and snugly.

I decided to take the quilt to a bed to snap some photos, and Fatty volunteered to be the spokes-model.

Can you tell that she thinks this is her bed?

When I was done with the pictures, I had to wrestle her to get the quilt back. Cats are like that.

That's one really nice quilt, Barbara! Cats do tend to rule the roost, don't they? Strict little beasties.

Always great to see UFOs done and appreciated--even if it is by Cats! Super quilt & I am sure it will be loved for a long time.

I had to remind Wes the other night that Elmo's head didn't belong on my needlepoint pillow and he looked at me like I was asking him to jump off a bridge by getting that pillow away from the dog (and his hair). Really, sometimes you have to wonder. . . .

HI Barbara,
I am looking forward to the break to get back to quilting and getting a little more organized at home.
I love the utility pillowcase quilt- I have never tried a blanket inside a quilt for batting but it sounds like a great alternative for batting. Batting here is quite expensive. My king size quilt batt cost about 50 dollars Canadian ( that is just batting) Yikes...

Red is a great color for binding- I often use scraps of different lengths for binding so the edge is variable in color.
Cats do love Quilts. Mars will come to visit me when I am covered up with a quilt- otherwise she is not overly friendly in the living room. Looks like your cat is really enjoying your quilt.
Have a great holiday season with you and yours,
Warmest regards,
Anna

Very nice collaborative project!
But I have to say, that last picture of your cat made me laugh out loud. You should frame it!

Economy Block and Large-Scale Fabrics

Recenlty I decided to take out and use the stash of Asian-themed fabrics I'd set aside.  Many of them are large scale, so I wanted to fe...
